Bats are beneficial, their insect companions may not be...
August 12, 2014
Bats, like humans are mammals. Bats are the only mammals that can fly and they are our natural allies in pest control by eating many different insects. Bats do not reproduce quickly with a female averaging one pup a year, so the populations do not grow quickly.
The first step in controlling bats is determining the primary roost(s) and creating and exclusion plan to evict the bats. Many of the parasites and bugs that plague bat populations readily afflict humans when their primary hosts are displaced. Without proper planning and preventative steps a bat problem can easily become a primary bug infestation.
The integrated approach takes all of the pests and potential pests into account. We will protect our allies the bats, while eliminating the insect threat.
